The beautiful chest is made by wrapping full grain semi-vegetable tanned leather over a wooden frame. The corners have rounded edges that help protect the leather from peeling-off or scratches. The sublime dual-tone hue is created by hand-painting the leather in a process inspired by Da Vincis ˜Sfumato technique. The see-through plexiglass window on top provides a clear view of the treasures within. Eagle-eyed Lapis Bard aficionados will note the brands presence in the shape of the arc on the top lid that is inspired by the lyre logo and in the circular black and gold emblem on the closure. The rich colouring, gold-plated trim and smooth texture of the premium leather give the chest a truly luxurious look and feel.

The easy access, push-pull button lock mechanism opens the chest to reveal three tiers lined in soft and resilient microsuede, which keeps the pens dust-free and protects them from scratches. The first two tiers are removable pen trays with ten curved pen slots each. The trays have leather tabs on the sides to provide a good grip while lifting them out of the chest.
